Norwich City fans keen to snap up new season tickets in the wake of their team's Championship survival have been urged to move quickly. The Canaries already have more than 1,000 new season ticket-holders for 2008-09, out of a total of more than 19,000 sold so far.

Norwich City fans keen to snap up new season tickets in the wake of their team's Championship survival have been urged to move quickly.

The Canaries already have more than 1,000 new season ticket-holders for 2008-09, out of a total of more than 19,000 sold so far.

Saturday's 3-0 win over Queen's Park Rangers, which guaranteed City their place in the Championship, could spark a fresh flurry of activity at the box office.

But only about 200 more seats will be available to new buyers until current season ticket-holders have had their last chance to renew.

More than 1,600 existing ticket-holders have not renewed yet, but they have another three weeks to make up their minds. May 17 is the final deadline for renewal, although a discount is on offer to those who renew before May 9.

Andrew Cullen, City director of sales and marketing, said they may have to reopen a waiting list for new applicants.

“To date we've sold 19,130 season tickets, with 1,037 of those new tickets,” he said. “Once we get to 1,250 new sales, we will start a waiting list until such time as current ticket-holders have reached their deadline. That means there are about another 220 season tickets for sale to new buyers before May 17, but after that it will depend on what is left.”

City plan to set a cap on season ticket sales at about 20,000 to make sure casual seats are still available.

League attendances at Carrow Road this season totalled 564,131, with the final game against QPR attracting the biggest crowd of 25,497.

City's average league gate of 24,527 is better than six Premier League Clubs, and has been bettered in the Championship only by Sheffield United, and in League One by Leeds.
