The Canaries were feeling in a much better place following their 2-0 midweek victory over Queens Park Rangers at Carrow Road, thanks to goals from Nelson Oliveira and Harrison Reed helped get their previous home defeat to Sunderland out of their system.

However, things were a little more tricky at Villa where Bruce’s highly-fancied side had just one point from their opening three games and they took on City still without a league win to their name.

The last time the Canaries won at Villa Park was back in the inaugural Premier League season of 1992-92, thanks to a Daryl Sutch winner.

Following their weekend clash, City host League One Charlton in the Carabao Cup second round on Tuesday (7.45pm) before welcoming in the first international break of the season with a Championship trip to newly promoted Millwall.
