MATCHDAY LIVE: Defeat to Everton leaves City facing the drop

The heat is on for Norwich City in more ways than one this evening as Daniel Farke’s team take on Everton (6pm KO) - and our reporters will be at Carrow Road to bring you all the updates, analysis and reaction.
Temperatures are predicted to still be around 24C when the games kicks off behind closed doors at Carrow Road at 6pm, on one of the hottest days of the year so far.
City head into the game knowing that anything less than a win is likely to mean they are heading back to the Championship at the end of this season, following a poor 3-0 home defeat to Southampton on Friday as the Premier League season resumed amid the UK’s recovery from the coronavirus pandemic.
The Canaries remain six points from safety, thanks to West Ham losing 2-0 at Spurs last night to make it successive defeats since the restart but Brighton now look out of reach in 15th after a 0-0 draw at Leicester on Tuesday moved them 12 points clear of Norwich, building on a win over Arsenal at the weekend.
Nearest rivals Aston Villa are also in action at 6pm, at Newcastle and Wolves respectively, with Watford at Burnley tomorrow night.
The Toffees arrive having had 48 hours fewer to prepare for the game, after holding champions-in-waiting Liverpool to a 0-0 derby draw at Goodison Park on Sunday night.
Carlo Ancelotti’s team are 12th and 11 points clear of trouble but haven’t won any of their last four league matches and lost 2-0 to City at home in December under former manager Marco Silva.
