Former Canaries striker Dieumerci Mbokani has won the Belgian First Division’s Golden Boot award.

The 34-year-old Democratic Republic of Congo international, who plays for Royal Antwerp, scored 18 goals in 28 league games before the league was cancelled because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Mbokani finished with the same number of goals as Canada youngster Jonathan David who plays for Gent, but Mbokani won the Golden Boot for scoring the most away goals (six).

He is the first Royal Antwerp player to claim the honour since Francis Severeyns, who scored 24 times during the 1987-88 season.

Mbokani joined Norwich on loan from Dynamo Kiev in August 2015, and scored seven goals in 29 Premier League appearances, including City’s opener in the amazing 5-4 home defeat by Liverpool the following January.

He went on to spend a season on loan at Hull City, before moving to Belgium.
