Steve Morison has been officially unveiled as Norwich City’s second signing of the summer - and says he can’t wait to complete a meteoric rise from non league football to the Premier League.

The 27-year-old completed the formalities of his transfer from Millwall, signing a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

Morison had been at Millwall for two seasons, having played non league for Stevenage and before that Bishop’s Stortford, where he’d dropped after being released by Northampton Town – now he’s heading for the big league.

“I was playing non league three years ago,” he said. “Yes, it has been a steep rise, but one I have thoroughly enjoyed.

“It is definitely not easy – you have to work hard and I have managed to do that. I have got lucky at times, and I have managed to still score goals and as a striker that it what you are judged on.

“It is something you dream about when you are a kid, to play in the Premier League, but when you are in non league it is the furthest thing from your mind. You are just worried about whether you are going to play league football again, let alone play in the Premier League.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity. It is a fantastic football club. I really enjoyed playing the few games I have played against Norwich. It has a fantastic fan base, it’s a great part of the world and a fantastic place to play football.

“I can only do my best really. It is an opportunity to play in the best league in the world - I will do my best and work as hard as I can for the team and if I do get a chance, try and score some goals.”

For manager Paul Lambert it completes a hunt that started some time ago.

“We’ve seen him for a few years and I think he was brilliant at Millwall,” said the City boss. “I thought he was a handful when we played against him so he will come and add to what we have already got and the striking department at this minute in time is really, really strong. But I think we are going to need everybody. As I said last season and the year before that, for us to do fine in it we need everybody. He will add to it, he is only 27, 28 shortly. I have no worries about him playing in front of a crowd or anything like that because he has already done it.”
