Norwich City left-back Philip Heise looks to be on his way back to the German second tier, with a loan to FC Neurnberg for the remainder of the season reportedly close to being sealed.
German newspaper Bild report that a loan switch to FC Neurnberg is imminent and that a medical is planned for Saturday, but that a permanent deal has not been discussed at this stage with the Dusseldorf native being under contract until 2022.
Heise signed for the Canaries from Dynamo Dresden on deadline day in January 2019 but has failed to make a single league appearance for City since his arrival and has featured as an unused substitute just twice.
His only action came in the Carabao Cup second round, playing all of a shock 1-0 loss away to League Two side Crawley in August, and otherwise the 28-year-old has been restricted to under-23 action.
He made 61 appearances in all competitions across three seasons at Dresden, scoring five goals and claiming 17 assists in Bundesliga 2 before completing his move to Norfolk for a nominal fee as his contract was moving towards its conclusion.
The form of Jamal Lewis saw him struggle to work his way into contention last season and Sam Byram has been selected ahead of him at left-back recently, after Lewis had picked up a knee injury.
Heise came through the youth systems of Fortuna Dusseldorf and Borussia Monchengladbach before starting out in senior football with clubs in the third tier, earning a move to Stuttgart in 2015 and making five appearances in the Bundesliga before he joined Dresden.
