Celtic midfielder Regan Hendry is reportedly training with Norwich City ahead of a possible deal before Thursday’s transfer deadline.
The 20-year-old represented Scotland at various youth levels but is yet to make his debut for the Glasgow giants and looks unlikely to force his way into Brendan Rodgers’ plans.
The Sun on Sunday report that Hendry caught the attention of Canaries’ scouts during a loan spell with Raith Rovers in Scottish League One during the second half of last season.
The Celtic academy product made 13 appearances for Raith, becoming a regular starter during a good end to the campaign, falling just a point short of title winners Ayr United but then losing their play-off against Championship club Alloa Athletic 4-1 on aggregate.
It looks likely that the former Scotland Under-19 international would initially be an addition to City’s under-23 squad, if the Canaries can offer him a clearer pathway to their first team.
Hendry – who can play centrally or on the wing – captained the Hoops under-19s in the Uefa Youth League last season and scored twice in two group stages games, against Paris Saint-Germain and Anderlecht.
The window for permanent transfers comes to a close at 5pm on Thursday for Championship clubs, although players can still be sold to non-English clubs until the end of August, when the loan window comes to a close as well.
