Norwich City keeper Robert Green believes rivals Ipswich got lucky at the end of yesterday's East Anglian derby - but he accepts they still deserved to come away from Carrow Road with all three points.

Young striker Danny Haynes was the hero for Town as he bundled the ball home from close range with just two minutes remaining to secure a dramatic victory for the visitors.

Green firmly believes the effort should have been ruled out for handball - and was also left to rue his luck over Jimmy Juan's opener for Town, which took a huge deflection off the Norwich wall. But he was honest enough to admit afterwards that justice had been done overall.

“You look at the last goal and it was definitely handball,” he said. “There wasn't a doubt about it it went in off his hand. There was also a big slice of good fortune with their first goal. I was going one way and the deflection took it the other and there was nothing I could do.

“But I am not going to use that as an excuse. Those sorts of things happen in football all the time and you just have to accept it. I can't deny Ipswich were the better side on the day and deserved to win it.

“They created more chances than us and had more shots on target. Apart from hitting the post we had just two shorts on target including the goal, which isn't good enough.

“They looked full of confidence and played some good football while we struggled. When you look back on the game a lot of the play was in our half and when you are playing at home that is very, very disappointing.”
