Norwich City goalkeeper Michael McGovern has urged football supporters to join him in the fight back against coronavirus.

The Northern Irish international published a short video on his social media channels outlining how people can do their bit to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Domestic football in England has been suspended until April 30 at the earliest, with the Premier League reportedly drawing up a plan to resume the competition on June 1.

McGovern has been an understudy to Tim Krul at City this season, but remains highly-regarded at Carrow Road for his influence off the pitch.

Speaking about the current situation with the global pandemic, McGovern said: “We all need to come together to battle this virus. We all need to do the right things and act in a responsible manner.

“Please do not gather in large groups, think about what you’re doing and who it can affect. So, join me in supporting the fight back against coronavirus with three simple steps.

“Stay at home. Wash your hands. Keep your distance. Stay safe.”
