The first big date of the new season arrived on Wednesday morning with the much-anticipated unveiling of the new Championship fixture list. Chris Lakey has done some number-crunching.

Daniel Farke’s first competitive action as the Canaries’ head coach is a challenging trip to Fulham on Saturday, August 5. A place where City have not won at Craven Cottage since Kevin Drinkell’s winning goal in 1986.

There have been some bitter recent memories for long-suffering supporters. None more than an embarrassing Premier League exit in a 6-0 mauling back on the final day of the 2004-05 top flight campaign.

Chris Hughton and Neil Adams both suffered defeats on their first days in the job - Hughton enduring an opening day nightmare by the Thames in August 2012 with a 5-0 defeat.

But what is Norwich’s record like on the opening day of the campaign and what are the key numbers dating back to 1920? We have all the statistics here alongside plenty of comment and analysis across our web sites.

Then on Thursday there will be a special four-page fixtures’ wall chart as part of a supplement in the Eastern Daily Press and Norwich Evening News.
