Stuart Webber’s former proteges, Chris Badlan and Kieran Scott, will lead the club’s revamped recruitment department, after their expected appointments were confirmed on Wednesday lunchtime.

Badlan joins as head of European scouting, while Scott takes up the head of domestic scouting position. The duo previously worked with Webber at Wolves, with Scott having most recently been part of Sean Dyche’s scouting system at Premier League side Burnley.

“The idea has been to try and split the scouting department in two, in terms of responsibility and accountability,” Webber told the club’s official site. “Kieran will head up the UK, with the academy filtering into that. His background has predominantly been youth recruitment.

“Having someone coming from the youth side into the first team is great when we’re looking to develop young and hungry players.

“With Chris, he’s always had a real firm handle on Europe. His knowledge of foreign players is pretty much encyclopaedic.

“We’ve spoken about being open-minded in terms of who we sign. That includes foreign players and Chris has a really strong working knowledge of this level. They both know how I work, which is important. When you have people who understand the methodology it helps.”

Badlan left his post at Molineux as head of emerging talent in April, which he had occupied in the West Midlands since October 2015. Webber moved quickly to overhaul the club’s recruitment strategy after becoming Norwich’s sporting director, with a trio of exits headed by former technical director Ricky Martin, who along with Lee Darnbrough and Tony Spearing were key figures in the set-up under previous manager Alex Neil.
