Aaron Wilbraham struck a stoppage time winner for City's second string at Carrow Road on Tuesday to get their Premier League Reserve campaign up and running.
Everton midfielder John Lundstram hammered the Toffees in front two minutes prior to the interval after a double save from Remi Matthews in the build up.
City defender Richard Brindley equalised after 17 minutes before Andrew Surman’s penalty was saved by Everton keeper Adam Davies.
Then Wilbraham spared his team mate’s blushes when he powered home deep into stoppage time.
City’s second string had previously drawn 0-0 against Blackburn in their first outing of the new season. Norwich again fielded a strong line up featuring Russell Martin, who was an unused substitute against Chelsea in the Premier League at the weekend alongside such senior men as Adam Drury, Wilbraham and Surman, who all failed to make Paul Lambert’s matchday squad at Stamford Bridge.
Wilbraham was the pick of the home side, signalling his intent with a double chance inside the opening seconds.
Davies parried his long range strike before the big targetman headed the resulting corner over. Wilbraham’s lob then nestled on the roof of Davies’ net after patient build up play.
