Norwich City announced on Friday morning they had extended the contracts of Wes Hoolahan, Alex Tettey and Michael Turner until 2017, while releasing nine players.

Gary O’Neil confirmed on Thursday he had rejected a new contract offer to sign a two-year deal with Championship rivals Bristol City but some of the club’s younger talent will also leave when their current contracts expire later this month.

Jamar Loza and Cameron King are among the notable departures, after both had brief first team appearances, but the list also includes Reiss Awuah, Afolabi Coker, Adel Gafaiti, Reece Hall-Johnson, Cameron Norman and Arinse Uade.

Loza scored once in six senior appearances for the Canaries - a memorable 98th minute equaliser at Huddersfield in March 2015 - but had a series of loan spells in the Football League at the likes of Orient, Southend, Yeovil and Stevenage. Midfielder King made one League Cup appearance under Neil Adams at Shrewsbury in September 2014 but his progress was hampered by injury.

Hoolahan and Tettey were key figures in Norwich City’s Premier League campaign, before Tettey suffered a season-ending ankle injury that required surgery. Turner, however, returns to his parent club after a loan stint at defeated Championship play-off finalists Sheffield Wednesday. Turner scored once in 12 appearances for the Owls. The 32-year-old’s last senior Norwich City outing came in a 4-0 win against Blackpool in February 2015.

The club have also triggered one-year options for younger duo Ben Killip and Jamie Eaton-Collins.

Meanwhile, City also confirmed the news from earlier this summer Steven Whittaker had signed a new one year deal, with a further one-year option, along with Michee Efete and Ray Grant (one year deal, with one year options).
