Norwich City are reportedly closing in on signing Motherwell youngster Reece McAlear.

The Scottish Sun are saying that City are close to agreeing a fee for the 19-year-old, who would become part of the Canaries academy set-up.

The midfielder was linked with a move to West Ham and Leicester earlier this summer but Norwich are now in pole position.

McAlear made his debut for Motherwell's Under-20 side as a 15-year-old but only has a year left on his deal at Fir Park.

City already tried to raid Motherwell this summer only for David Turnbull to reject them in favour of a move to Celtic, which then broke down after he failed a medical.

Norwich have strived to improve the depth of their Under-23s squad this summer with the likes of Daniel Adshead, Aidan Fitzpatrick, Rocky Bushiri, Rob Nizet and Charlie Gilmour all coming in to supplement David Wright's side.
