David Wagner admits Huddersfield Town could be priced out of a move for Norwich City's Alex Pritchard in the January transfer window.
The Premier League side Town have been linked with the 24-year-old midfielder, with reports claiming two bids have already been rejected, with a third on the table.
“If we have to bring in another player it will be an offensive player,” said Wagner. “Pritchard is not my player, he is a Norwich player. I like him, but I have my doubts if he will play for us because I know how expensive British players are in this window.
“If we are able to get some British players in they have to be reasonable prices. At the end it is all about quality.
“If it’s one new signing with the quality to help us, good. If it’s two, I’ll take two. We need to be focused on the quality.”
Pritchard and James Maddison are expected to be the subject of much speculation during the window, although City’s head coach Daniel Farke says he is not under pressure to sell.
