Birmingham City are interested in signing former Norwich City loanee Mitchell Dijks on a permanent deal from Ajax this summer.

Norwich had the option of signing Dijks at the end of his loan deal but issued a statement to let supporters know that negotiations had broken down as personal terms could not be agreed.

Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf are reporting that the 24-year-old left-back is now interesting City’s Championship rivals Birmingham, with Ajax willing to sell as his contract expires in 2018.

Dijks made 15 appearances, scoring once, for the Canaries and was largely popular with fans for his swashbuckling performances.

The report adds that Ajax want around £3million for the former Norwich loanee, with unnamed clubs in Spain, Italy and Germany also interested.

Blues boss Harry Redknapp is being handed funds by owners Trillion Trophy Asia after steering them clear of relegation last season.
