Norwich City have been linked with a move for Bradford City’s Australian defender James Meredith.

The 28-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and the left back is seen as a possible replacement for Swedish international Martin Olsson, who left Carrow Road for Premier League strugglers Swansea City this week.

FourFourTwo magazine says Meredith is attracting interest from a number of Championship clubs, including Leeds United, but that the Aussie “is interested in making the move up a division to join Norwich”.

However, prising Meredith out of Bradford may not be easy as the Bantams are comfortably placed for a promotion push from League One. They are currently fourth in the table, 11 points behind league leaders Sheffield United.

Meredith has made 25 appearances in all competitions for the Bantams this season.

He began his English career at Derby, but failed to make a start, and after loans at Cambridge United and Chesterfield joined Sligo Rovers in the League of Ireland Premier Division. He went on to play for Shrewsbury, AFC Telford on loan, and York City before moving to Bradford in 2012.
