Norwich City have made a £1.5m bid for Barnsley centre half Angus MacDonald.
We understand the 24-year-old centre half has been pinpointed as the man to help shore up the Canaries’ defence.
MacDonald, who has made 21 appearances for the Tykes this season, moved to Oakwell in the summer from Torquay United.
It had been anticipated he would be back up to Marc Roberts and Alfie Mawson but such has been his progress, he is now considered to be first choice by manager Paul Heckingbottom.
However, Barnsley face a fight to keep the defender amid interest from Norwich, whose transfer coffers were swelled this week upon the completion of Martin Olsson’s £4m move to Swansea City.
Only four teams in the Championship have conceded more goals this season and Neil knows that a solution to his leaky backline must be sought this month if they are to re-establish themselves as genuine contenders for the play-offs.
