FC Union Berlin central defender Toni Leistner is a target for the Canaries, according to reports in Germany on Monday night.
The Berliner Kurier claim City have made an enquiry for the 26-year-old powerhouse, who is out of contract at the German second tier club in 2018.
Canaries’ head coach Daniel Farke has already returned to his homeland to recruit centre back Christoph Zimmermann from old club Borussia Dortmund and former Darmstadt midfielder Mario Vrancic.
The 6ft 3in Leistner is one of FC Union’s prized assets but the Berlin club may be tempted to cash in rather than risk Leistner leave for nothing in 12 months.
The Berlin Kurier claim City may need to offer in the region of £3.5m to entice Leistner to England.
Norwich are in the market for defensive reinforcements, with sporting director Stuart Webber striving to bring in a centre back and left-back ahead of the Championship kick-off at Fulham on August 5.
Leistner has earned a reputation as one of the best defenders in the German second tier during a successful spell at FC Union following a free transfer switch from Dynamo Dresden in 2014.
