Former Norwich City number one John Ruddy is being linked with a surprise Stateside switch to MLS club Vancouver Whitecaps.
Ruddy has made it clear he would like a Premier League posting, with both newly-promoted Brighton and West Ham already linked this summer, but the US version of the Metro report the Whitecaps are among a number of MLS outfits monitoring the free agent.
Vancouver are on the fringes of play-offs in the US, sitting one place outside the top six in the Western Conference standings after a weekend 2-2 draw against Minnesota.
The 30-year-old was the highest profile casualty of seven senior players released by the Canaries at the end of last season. Ruddy was part of two promotion-winning sides at Norwich in a seven-year stint but City sporting director Stuart Webber indicated Norwich were unable to offer the St Ives-bred stopper a new deal on the same terms.
City have also sanctioned the departure of Declan Rudd to Preston in recent days but have brought in Manchester City youngster Angus Gunn on a season-long loan.
