Rotherham midfielder Will Vaulks is being linked with Norwich City again, along with fellow Premier League new boys Sheffield United and a clutch of Championship clubs.
The 25-year-old was suggested as a £1.5million target for the Canaries ahead of the January transfer window by the Daily Mail, who also claimed Stoke and Derby were keen at the time.
However, the player's situation has changed since, with Rotherham activating the 12-month option in his contract in March, to extend his deal until the end of the 2019-20 season.
He also became an international in March, earning his first two caps for Wales and crossing for Ben Woodburn's winner during a 1-0 friendly win over Trinidad and Tobago on his debut.
TeamTalk claim to have an exclusive insight into Vaulks' summer options now though, suggesting Norwich and Sheffield United are keen, with Derby still in the mix but Cardiff and Sheffield Wednesday also joining the race.
Vaulks is a popular player at Rotherham having scored 17 goals in 137 games for the South Yorkshire club since joining from Scottish club Falkirk in 2013, having come through the youth system at Tranmere Rovers initially.
He won the Millers' Player of the Season award in 2017 and 2018, and was also Player in the Community winner at the EFL Awards in April for his volunteering work at Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice on the outskirts of Sheffield for the past two years.
He was a pivotal player for Paul Warne's team this season as a central midfielder, scoring seven goals and setting up another seven in 41 Championship games, often wearing the captain's armband, but was unable to prevent relegation.
VERDICT: Looks unlikely to be playing in League One again next season but whether he could step up to the Premier League is the issue from a Canaries' standpoint.
Vaulks showed City what he could do in December as it was his powerful shot that was spilled by Tim Krul as the Millers took a shock lead and he also smashed a shot just over which would have made it 2-0, before Norwich rallied to win 3-1.
He missed the return fixture at the New York Stadium in March, which City won 2-1, due to suspension but his performances ranked him as the 16th best player in the division at WhoScored.com, with their statistics giving him an average rating of 7.24 out of 10 for the season.
The Canaries have already been linked with another Rotherham midfielder, the towering Semi Ajayi, and are believed to be keen to sign another central midfielder for the Premier League battle.
The clubs have already completed some business as well, with City striker Carlton Morris joining the Millers on loan for next season earlier this week.
Seems a good character, only aged 25 and with a year remaining on his contract Vaulks could well be a decent squad addition if he is available at a reasonable price, but would seem unlikely to be a potential contender for a starting role in the top flight.
