One of the many players linked with Norwich City in recent months who can be ruled out as a Premier League option is Royal Antwerp right-back Daniel Opare.
The 28-year-old Ghana international was linked to the Canaries and fellow top-flight new boys Aston Villa by The Sun earlier this month.
A deal of around £500,000 was suggested, due to Opare only having a year to run on his Antwerp contract. However, disaster struck on Sunday when the defender was injured in a pre-season friendly.
The former Standard Liege and Augsburg full-back limped off during a 3-0 win over KFC Brasschaat and GhanaSoccernet.com now report that a knee ligament injury will keep him out for around six months.
Opare was on the books at Real Madrid as a youngster and was a regular with 23 appearances to help Antwerp finish fourth in the Belgian top flight, to book a Europa League qualifying spot - with 13 goals from former Norwich loan striker Dieumerci Mbokani highly influential.
City are understood to be looking for a right-back as competition and cover for star youngster Max Aarons, having released Ivo Pinto on a free transfer, who returned to former club Dinamo Zagreb.
