Manchester City loanee Patrick Roberts scored and played 90 minutes but couldn't prevent Norwich City Under-23s from slipping to their fourth successive defeat in Premier League Two.

The winger played all of Friday night's 4-2 loss to West Brom at Colney, which leaves David Wright's development squad second from bottom in Division Two.

German left-back Philip Heise also got a full 90 minutes in the tank, while striker Adam Idah played an hour following two games with the Republic of Ireland U21s during the international break - with all three missing out on first-team action the next day.

The Baggies were leading 3-0 after 53 minutes at the Lotus Training Centre but Gassan Ahadme, who replaced Idah, turned in an Isak Thorvaldsson pass in the 69th minute.

Roberts was sent clean through by Jordan Thomas seven minutes later and made no mistake but was denied in equaliser soon after when he saw a shot tipped over the crossbar.

The Baggies held out and sealed the win in the 85th minute when keeper Archie Mair had slipped on the wet turf as he tried to save a scuffed shot.

Roberts, 22, is a on a season-long loan with the Canaries but has made just three brief appearances as a substitute in the Premier League so far, with his only start coming in a shock 1-0 loss at Crawley in the League Cup second round.

Next up for the young Canaries is another home game, against West Ham on Friday (7pm) at Colney.
