City's Academy side continued their recent good form with a 2-1 victory at Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Ricky Martin was forced into a couple of changes, the most notable being that of Luke Daley, who later in the day came off the bench to make his debut for the first team in the home clash against Burnley.

The Canaries made the best possible start, taking the lead against the Eagles after just 12 minutes.

After some good build up play in the middle of the park involving Matthew Ball and Damon Lathrope, the ball was worked through to Nick Davey, who took the ball past the centre-back before firing the ball into the far corner.

City kept the pressure up and Davey almost made it two, this time from the other angle, but the Palace keeper pulled off a good save.

Schoolboy Ball then went close but his effort was just wide of the target.

Shortly before the break Palace were lucky not to concede a second, when Johnbull Omoregie had the goal at his mercy but blasted over from close range.

The Canaries were expecting second place Palace to come at them as the second half got underway, but it was Norwich who kept on the front foot and extended their lead with a superb individual goal from Josh Dawkin.

The Welsh international cut in from the left wing onto his right foot before unleashing an unstoppable shot beyond the Palace keeper.

This seemed to spark the home side into life and they pulled a goal back within two minutes, when the ball fell kindly to a Palace striker who the put the ball beyond the reach of Declan Rudd.

Palace then put the pressure on the City defence in the final quarter of the game but some solid defending, with David Stephens and Dario Dumic catching the eye, secured all three points and means City have lost just once in their last 12 outings.
