Norwich City full-back Jordan Thomas is set for his first taste of loan action, after joining League Two side Leyton Orient for the 2020-21 season.

The 19-year-old has been with the Canaries since January 2018 and made a brief Premier League debut at the end of last season, coming on with already relegated Norwich trailing 5-0 at Manchester City.

Thomas scored once in 17 games for City’s under-23s during 2019-20 and is under contract until the end of this season but with the option for a further year.

Orient head coach Ross Embleton said: “Jordan’s an exciting young prospect from a big club, and one that we’re pleased to work with and potentially build a bigger relationship with.

“He’s a player we’ve been tracking for a while, and we feel we’ve signed a player with huge potential.

“I personally am really excited to work with him, and for everyone to see him in an Orient shirt.”

The former Charlton and Huddersfield trainee was also an unused substitute during three other Premier League games for City last season, providing cover for right-back Max Aarons with Sam Byram out injured.

He has been given the squad number 12 by the O’s and goes straight into their squad for a trip to Forest Green Rovers in the first round of the League Cup on Saturday.

“I’m just really pleased that it has happened,” Thomas said, also speaking to Orient’s website. “It has been ongoing for a little while but I found out last week that I was definitely coming.

“I’m a modern-day right back. I like to get forward. That fits this club’s philosophy perfectly I think.”
