Young striker Tom Dickson-Peters received the perfect 18th birthday present from Norwich City, as he signed a new three-year contract.
The Scotland Under-18 international scored nine goals in 21 games for City’s U18s last season and led the line during the FA Youth Cup games at Carrow Road, during a 3-2 win over Newcastle and a 2-0 defeat to Manchester United.
He also kicked off this season in fine style when scoring a hat-trick during a 5-1 home win over West Brom on Saturday, as the young Canaries began their U18 Premier League campaign.
“Obviously I’m really happy, delighted I can get another one and hopefully there’s more to come in the future,” Dickson-Peters said after signing fresh terms through until 2023.
“It wasn’t a difficult decision, the club shows faith in me, so I just want to pay them back.
“The under-23s is my next plan. If I work hard enough and keep on impressing, then hopefully that’ll become a reality soon.”
The tall forward signed his first professional deal in October 2019 but has already earned a new contract and was an unused substitute as the U23s won 3-2 at Plymouth Argyle in the EFL Trophy last week.
Originally from Berkshire, Dickson-Peters also had trials with Liverpool, Manchester City, Crystal Palace and Fulham before joining Norwich.
Speaking to City’s website, he added: “Since when I came at 15 years old I think I’ve developed a lot, recently as well, but especially last season because it was quite a tough season, but I think it showed a lot about me. Hopefully I can develop more in the future.
“The coaches support me, telling me what I need to do and what not to do to get better. Since I first came my team-mates have always been welcoming and that’s always a benefit.
“I think it’s everyone’s dream at the academy to become first team and if I work hard enough then I can get it.”
