Platt stays at Colchester - Culverhouse

Colchester United insist striker Clive Platt will not be moving to Norwich City.

The 31-year-old is reported to be a target for manager Bryan Gunn.

However, United assistant manager Ian Culverhouse, Gunn's former Norwich team-mate, said Platt was too important to the team to be allowed to leave.

“Clive isn't going anywhere,” he said. “He's an integral part of our plans for the new season.”

Meanwhile, Colchester defender Paul Reid will miss the start of the League One season - with the first match at Carrow Road - after breaking down again.

The 27-year-old has suffered a fresh blow in his bid to recover from a broken kneecap.
