‘It’s a bit strange’ - Raggett unsure if he’s still a Norwich City player

Sean Raggett has revealed he is unsure as to whether he is still a Norwich City player, with an extension to his loan at Portsmouth leaving him in limbo.
The 26-year-old former Lincoln centre-back was a regular for Pompey in League One this season and his Norwich contract was due to expire at the end of June, although there was an option for a further 12 months in his deal.
Portsmouth’s season was then settled using the points-per-game method, confirming their place in the play-offs, which would still be played.
Raggett played all of both legs, with a 1-1 home draw followed by another at Oxford, which was settled by a 6-5 penalty shoot-out win for the hosts to deny Pompey a Wembley final and a chance of returning to the Championship.
“That whole Norwich situation is a bit confusing to me, I don’t really know what is going on,” Raggett has revealed, speaking to Portsmouth newspaper The News.
“I think I’m out of contract, but Norwich haven’t spoken to me. I’m in limbo, it’s a bit strange at the moment.
“The last time they spoke to me personally was before the lockdown – I haven’t heard anything since.
“They would have had to tell me by now if they were taking up my option, but they haven’t mentioned anything.”
Raggett goes on to say that he is keeping his options open but that he’d be “interested” in remaining with Pompey, saying that he has spoken to manager Kenny Jackett since the season concluded.
The tall defender joined Norwich in 2017 but initially remained with Lincoln in League Two, before making two brief Championship appearances as a substitute for Daniel Farke during the second half of 2017-18.
After an injury-hit loan stint at Rotherham, he got his career back on track with 38 appearances in all competitions for Portsmouth this season.
“There have been conversations with other clubs, but I’m not going to go into detail,” he added.
“It’s a bit unusual. Players don’t know what’s going on, teams don’t know what’s going on. I’m sure I will have a clearer picture in the next few weeks.
“My agents will be working hard seeing what comes our way.
“I am open minded. I always say I want to play at the highest level I can, but will consider any options and weigh them up.”
