Cody McDonald just can't stop scoring - after his debut exploits on Tuesday night when he sealed a 2-0 win over Cardiff with an injury-time goal, the 22-year-old went out the following day and did it again.

McDonald was on target in City's 4-3 defeat in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Chelsea, at their Cobham training centre.

Out-of-favour Jamie Cureton and Aussie winger David Carney also scored as City gave much-needed minutes on the field to fringe players. Youngsters Tom Adeyemi and David Stephens also featured in a team which was under the guidance of first team coach Ian Crook.

"Ian said the lads put on a good performance," said Gunn. "It could have been 7-7 - against Chelsea. But I think it was a good run-out for some of our players and a good experience for some of the youngsters to go down there and play a different level and team than they normally do."

The Chelsea team included Franco Di Santo and Jacob Mellis.
