Roeder looking for Home Park comfort

Victory at Home Park this afternoon would not only break City's duck for the new season - it would end a 19-game wait for an away win.

The last time City took all three points away from Carrow Road was in February, when Ched Evans' rocket secured a win at Cardiff.

This season it's three points from a possible 12 after three draws and a defeat - but manager Glenn Roeder insists that doesn't tell the whole story.

“Any place would be nice to get our first win of the season,” he said.

“But the facts are we have drawn three and lost one.

“I will argue with anyone that it could easily have been four wins, certainly three and a draw.

“We should be undefeated, but that's why (Antoine) Sibierski has been brought to the club.

“The only reason we are on three draws is because we couldn't finish our chances and we couldn't retain possession well enough in the top half of the team with the three strikers we had.

“The three we have got are strikers who are comfortable running on rather than coming to receive, being of slighter physique.

“We needed a person who is happy to play with his back to goal and he has shown that in training this week - a bit like big Dion (Dublin) you can find him from anywhere.

“As long as it's a ball of half decent quality he will bring it down on his chest and bring others into play.

“Don't give him a free header from 10 yards out, because he'll murder it.”
