Norwich City midfielder Youssef Safri remains a doubt for Saturday's trip to Leeds - despite returning to training yesterday.

The Moroccan international missed his side's 2-1 victory over Stoke with a hip injury sustained at Crystal Palace the previous weekend and although that problem is now behind him there's no guarantee he will make an immediate return to the starting line-up.

Manager Nigel Worthington is adopting a wait-and-see approach on the player's match fitness and won't be making a decision on whether he plays at Elland Road until later in the week.

“Youssef is back in training now, which is good news, but's too early to say whether he will be ready for the weekend,” said the City boss. “He has missed quite a lot of work and he needs to get back to the levels he had before the injury. At the moment I'd say he is touch and go for Leeds.”

Andy Hughes and Jason Shackell both looked in some discomfort at the end of the Stoke game but that was down to fatigue as much as anything else, with Worthington confirming that the pair would be fit and raring to go at the weekend.

“They were training with the rest of the lads today and they are fine,” said the Norwich manager yesterday. “At the moment I have only got two players out through injury - Matthieu Louis-Jean and Darren Ward - and it's good to have so many people available at this stage of the season.”
