Korey Smith has effectively had two Norwich City debuts - the one which ended in disaster at Charlton last season and the one under Paul Lambert, which has helped trigger the upturn in fortunes this campaign.

Smith was distraught after City dropped out of the Championship, even though he was one of the few who came out of the final-day debacle with any pride intact.

He reappeared for Lambert's first home game in charge - and his own Carrow Road debut - against this afternoon's opponents, Wycombe. A goal and a fine 73-minute performance later he was assured of a place in the manager's City revolution.

The intention now is to finish the job - and after missing three games because of a thigh injury, the

18-year-old is champing at the bit.

"I was out there with a couple of the young lads yesterday," said the teenager, without a trace of irony. "They were saying 'you've got to do it again' - I don't know if I'll be able to do that again, but I'm looking forward to it if I play."

Lambert has given Smith the opportunity - and it's been taken.

"When he came in he thought I trained well and put me in and at the time it paid off and hopefully I can keep going and bring it into the match Saturday if I'm involved."

Smith has just one resolution for 2010 - promotion, with the memories of last season the spur.

"It wouldn't erase it, but I would say it is something I can look back on and think to myself, 'I don't want to be in that situation again in the rest of my career'," he added.
