There was at least one new face - and one old, familiar face - on board when the Norwich City squad flew to Scotland last night. There was at least one new face - and one old, familiar face - on board when the Norwich City squad flew to Scotland last night.

Goran Maric, a 25-year-old Serbian striker, formerly with Barcelona B, was warming up with the Canaries at Dartford on Saturday and will play during the three-match tour.

Maric scored in Crystal Palace's 4-0 win at Boreham Wood in a friendly last Thursday night.

“He's a striker and we're going to have a look at him in Scotland and we'll assess him after three games,” said Butterworth. “He's been with Celta Vigo, Barcelona B, he played for Crystal Palace the other night, so he's going to join us for Scotland and we're going to have a look at him.”

Former City forward Paul McVeigh, 31, was also in the travelling party after scoring in the 6-0 win at Fakenham on Friday night and making a brief appearance as substitute at Dartford.

Said Butterworth: “We're looking at him and the manager will assess the situation after the games in Scotland.”

Midfielder Korey Smith missed the first two friendlies, but purely as a precaution because of a thigh strain.

He hopes to be fit to feature in the Canaries' tour programme. They face Raith Rovers tomorrow night, St Johnstone on Thursday and Airdrie on Saturday.
