Norwich City have confirmed that eight academy players will be leaving the club this summer when their contracts expire, including strikers Tristan Abrahams and Pierre Fonkeu.

Abrahams was signed from Leyton Orient in 2017 and has spent this season on loan in League Two, initially with Exeter and then switching to Yeovil in January, where he was part of relegation disappointment with the Glovers.

Belgian striker Pierre Fonkeu returned from long-term injury for City's U23s recently but will also be leaving this summer, as will another player who has had injury problems, midfielder Louis McIntosh.

The eight players are: Pierre Fonkeu, Tristan Abrahams, Louis McIntosh, Bilal Kamal, Spencer Keller, Finlay Barnes, Ryan Dickerson, Aaron Ekumah.

Abrahams, 20, was reportedly signed in a deal worth around £250,000 after Orient's relegation from the Football League but didn't make a first-team appearance in his two years - with City deciding not to take up the option for a further year in his contract.

He scored twice in 23 games for Exeter this season but 15 of those appearances were as a substitute, so a switch to Yeovil followed with three goals in 15 games as he played a more prominent role.

Former Club Brugges striker Fonkeu, 21, missed nearly all of this season through injury but returned with two appearances as a substitute for the U23s recently, scoring the consolation in a 4-1 loss at Southampton last month.

City's statement concluded: "Everyone at Norwich City would like to thank the players for their service to the club and wish them the very best for their future endeavours."

McIntosh has seen his progress held up by injuries and was only able to make five U23 appearances this season but Kamal was a regular, mostly playing at full-back on either side, making 26 appearances in all competitions.

Local youngster Keller, a forward from the Great Yarmouth area, as well as defender Ekumah, goalkeeper Dickerson and midfielder Barnes were mostly U18s players this season.
