Norwich City's statement was the only line coming out of Carrow Road last night on the exits of chief executive Neil Doncaster and chairman Roger Munby - but club officials will be addressing supporters tonight.

By pure coincidence the annual meeting of the Norwich City Supporters Trust takes place the day after the double departure and those present this evening have been promised a briefing.

“Club representatives have asked to speak to Trust members at our annual meeting and the Trust has agreed,” said secretary Mike Reynolds.

“The timing means that the agenda will differ from that advertised.

“A positive initiative by the club would be to invite the Trust to take a more active role in club affairs.”

Reynolds, whose group enables small investors to buy shares in the Canaries, said the Trust didn't always agree with the approach taken by the departing pair during their time at the club, but always appreciated their willingness to communicate with supporters.

“The Trust has always recognised the degree of openness both Roger Munby and Neil Doncaster have shown in their dealings with the fans,” he said.

“Other Supporters Trusts have been amazed that the chairman and the chief executive of Norwich City have, along with other directors, been available at fans' meetings throughout the turmoil of several seasons of under-achievement and failed managers. Whilst not always agreeing with their actions, this approach is in stark contrast to what happens at other clubs.”

This evening's meeting at Carrow Road, which gets under way at 7.30pm, is open only to Trust members.

However it will be possible to join on the night.
