Tony Pulis has admitted he will not be able to field a full-strength team against Norwich City in the Capital One Cup tonight.

The Baggies face the Canaries in the third round of the competition having picked up fresh injury problems in their 1-0 derby victory at Aston Villa on Saturday.

City boss Alex Neil has revealed he will make changes to give some of his fringe players game-time as well but West Brom have gone to the extent of issuing a statement to their fans ahead of the game.

“I think it’s only right to let the supporters know we will have to make changes,” Pulis said, speaking to his club’s website.

“It’s a long trip and we appreciate their backing on a midweek night, but we’ve come back from Villa with four or five knocks and niggles, which we cannot take chances with.”

Pulis went on to say he was “desperate” to win the Carrow Road clash but added: “It’s only fair the supporters are aware that on this occasion we will be forced into changes.”

Neil has no fresh injury worries ahead of the game, although midfielder Alex Tettey will serve a one-match suspension after picking up five yellow cards.

Which means the Scot hopes he will be able to field a team strong enough to seal progress in front of City’s home support.

“I think it’s a case of getting some players game time but also making sure the squad and team are going to be strong, certainly strong enough to win the game,” Neil said.

“It’s always a balancing act over the course of the season because it’s not just about 11 players, it’s about making sure you try and utilise your squad the best you can but try and not weaken the team.”
