Son Heung-min admits Tottenham were given a 'very hard game' by Norwich City, after his fortunate goal brought an end to a personal drought.

The South Korean star was the beneficiary of Christoph Zimmermann's fine block of a Dele Alli shot looping perfectly for him to nod in at the back post and salvage a 2-1 win for Spurs, denying the rock-bottom visitors a deserved point.

"It was a hard game, a very hard game, Norwich had done very well so I think it was important for us to get the three points, to get confidence back," said the speedy forward.

"It was a really hard game but the lads fought really hard and the most important thing is to get the three points, no matter how.

"Sometimes it's difficult to play amazing but we got the win and the three points and this has shown character, this is very important."

It was just a second win in seven league games for Jose Mourinho's side, with Son's 11th goal of the season cancelling out Teemu Pukki's penalty equaliser, scoring his first since a goal-of-the-season contender during a 5-0 home win over Burnley in early December.

He had missed the festive period due to a three-game ban for a red card but brought an end to a seven-game drought at a helpful time, with star striker Harry Kane currently out injured.

Speaking to Tottenham's official website, Son added: "It was very hard for me, I tried to be calm, to work for the team and suddenly the ball came to me. For me it's a special goal, of course every goal is special, but because I can't only score the goals like I did at Burnley.

"Sometimes I need to score goals like this to feel my confidence back. I can score like this as well and I think it's most important to get on the score-sheet and to get my confidence back at a very important time."
