Following on from the defeat of Portman Road last Sunday there was further misery for the Canaries at the hands of Ipswich Town, when their U17 side lost 3-0 at Colney today.

Both teams took the opportunity to play some of their younger Academy players while at the same time cast an eye over two or three trialists.

City started brightly enough with the lively Manny Richardson causing the Blues defence a few problems.

Darren Bloodworth was forced into an early change when keeper Declan Rudd limped off after just 10 minutes to be replaced Jed Steer.

Just five minutes later and Norwich were forced to make a further substitution when Josh Dawkin came on to replace Courtney Donald who suffered a nasty gash to the forehead.

After 22 minutes Town opened their account when Reggie LAMB raced clear of the City defence to fire the ball past Steer.

By now the visitors had taken control of the game and on 40 minutes they extended their lead when from a free-kick Billy CLARK rose above the City defence, to head the ball beyond the reach of Steer.

City stepped their game up after the break and went close on a couple of occasions through Nick Davey, who saw one header turn onto the crossbar by the Town keeper.

Ipswich then put the game beyond City's reach on the hour mark when they were awarded a penalty after Danny Kelly was harshly adjudged to have failed his man. Roman MURRAY converted the spot-kick.

t Norwich City Man of the Match: Manny Richardson.

t Norwich City U17: Rudd (Steer 10), Francomb (Adeyemi 65), Cooper, Stephens, Hudson, D Kelly, Donald (Dawkin 15), Richardson, Davey, Reeve, Mahon.

t City's Academy side bring the curtain down on their season next Saturday when they entertain Crystal Palace at Colney, after the original game fell foul of the weather earlier this year.
