Which Norwich City player performed the best in the 2-1 Championship defeat at Burton Albion? Let us know by casting your vote in the poll on this page.

Groundhog Day again for Norwich City in the Championship at one of the so-called lesser lights.

Burton’s appetite for the battle, their uncomplicated style and their desperation for the points was too much for the Canaries. Alex Neil had asked for one more effort to cap a gruelling spell but this looked a game too far for his depleted squad. Timm Klose’s calamitous error proved costly and City were no less secure after Cameron Jerome had levelled early in the second-half when Michael Kightly veered his way through to lob John Ruddy.

City’s gathering revival was abruptly cut short and they never really mustered enough quality required in the final third to get back on level terms. Jerome scored his fifth in his last seven games and had the best Norwich chance of the opening period with a curling effort that drifted wide. But the striker had precious little service, albeit Wes Hoolahan’s half-time arrival did pep up the lacklustre Canaries. Alex Tettey got through plenty of work and Jonny Howson was just off-target with a dipping late effort but there was few candidates in the visiting ranks.

Our Norwich City correspondent, Paddy Davitt, went for Jerome, who was the one Norwich player to respond to Neil’s pre-match urgings.

Cast your vote in the poll, which will then continue to run online throughout the week.
