Norwich City veteran Alex Tettey apologised to Canaries fans following a 3-0 defeat at Wolves which left Daniel Farke’s players ‘extremely disappointed’ with themselves.

The 33-year-old was as brutally honest as ever in the wake of a defeat at Molineux which left many supporters feeling a late Premier League survival surge is now unlikely, sitting seven points from safety with 11 games left.

"It is extremely tough after this game, extremely tough because I think we can do much, much better," said the midfielder.

"Everything that happened from the 20th minute on, that's not us. That's a standard, individually, we should not have in this game.

"We had everything, from not really going in 100 percent for second balls, passes, work rate, it was not there.

"That is extremely, extremely, extremely disappointing from our point of view.

"That includes me. As I said to them in there, I'm extremely disappointed to be one of the senior members on the pitch and wanting to do more but not doing more is extremely disappointing.

"We just need to put our hands up and say we were not good enough. We've apologised to the away fans and we've got to get ourselves going again on Friday (at home to third-placed Leicester).

"What we did today, that's not good enough."

The former Norway international admitted the away dressing room was not a happy place at Molineux.

"Personally, I don't need anyone to talk to me, I don't need to talk to anyone," he explained. "I think that's the way it has to be, individually, people take it differently.

"Now I just want to get home as quickly as possible, talk about it and then just leave it."

City were 2-0 down at the break, with Diogo Jota's second coming from one of Wolves' trademark short-corner routines.

Tettey said: "They are good in the air, it's just they got their head to it first and we are all moving out, so for some reason they have more men at the back post than we did.

"They scored and it was very frustrating but even the first goal we had the numbers in the box and they still managed to score. The third goal as well, we should easily avoid that but we didn't."
