Luton Town bosses have confirmed Norwich City's interest in midfielder David Bell - and are expecting another call.

The Hatters admit they have given the Canaries an idea of what kind of offer they would accept for the Republic of Ireland B international.

Reports earlier this week claimed City boss Glenn Roeder was favourite for the 24-year-old's signature because he was prepared to offer the player a “lucrative three-year deal”.

Bell had been set to join Leicester City following a loan switch to the Walkers Stadium for the tail end of last season, but the move has stalled since the Foxes were relegated.

Stephen Browne, director of the LTFC2020 consortium bidding to take over Luton, said: “Norwich did express an interest and we gave them the guideline of what we are looking for and they said they would come back this week.”

He added: “Coventry have made a written bid, but not enough, and they've gone away to come back again. Coventry have said they are seriously interested in Bell. They are looking to re-bid.

“If it comes in and it's something sensible we will tell David.”

Nottingham Forest and Leeds United have also been linked with Bell.

Browne said: “There are a couple that are trying their hands and we've had inquiries from different clubs.

“There have been several other clubs that have phoned up but none that have put pen to paper.”

Browne said Leicester had not followed up their original plan for a permanent deal.

“Leicester we obviously knew about, but that was more dependent on them staying up. They haven't been in touch since (their relegation) because they need to look at what they need to do,” he said.
