Best wishes to old and new

It has been a busy couple of weeks at Carrow Road with plenty of comings and goings. First, to those who have left: I would like to add the NCISA Committee to the list of all those thanking Doug Livermore, Craig Fleming and Carl Robinson for their commitment and professionalism during their time at Norwich City.

First, to those who have left: I would like to add the NCISA Committee to the list of all those thanking Doug Livermore, Craig Fleming and Carl Robinson for their commitment and professionalism during their time at Norwich City. We wish you all the very best, personally and professionally, in the future.

Next, the new arrivals: a big welcome to Jim Duffy, Mark Fotheringham and Simon Lappin - and to Bryan Gunn in his new role. It was good to see two new players run out against Leeds and make a really promising start. The postponement of the Luton game, frustrating though it was, hopefully gives the new-look management team and players an opportunity to learn to work together.

It will be interesting to see who the new-look management team bring in on loan to boost numbers and give some more strength in depth. The “games in hand” tally keeps mounting, which promises a tough schedule for the rest of the season.

As there was no game to go to on Saturday, there was some time to catch up on the multitude of websites covering the changes at Carrow Road. I was by turns amused and exasperated by the number of anti-Scottish posts on the message boards. OK, so we have got players and management from north of the border. They are not the first Scots to come to City. If they come good for us, then what's the problem? I seem to remember that once we had a significant Northern Ireland representation, and I can't remember anything much being said about that.

The original cup game against Blackpool was fast and furious. A draw seemed a pretty fair result. The replay this week had pretty well everything we have seen from our team this season - awful play, fantastic goals, tension - and some questionable refereeing decisions. Apart from Huckerby's two classy goals, the other real encouragement for the fans was seeing Chris Martin looking so confident on the ball, getting into good positions, and scoring.
