Perfect timing to get our Horse back

The Man In The Stands

We just got a glimpse of how fragile our promotion hopes could be at

the weekend.

Our first choice 11 is good enough to beat anyone comfortably in this good forsaken league, but it was clear we finally felt WFLGHolty's absence at Millwall.

Not just him but poor Wes got 'the Hucks treatment' - he was completely marked out of the game, and not for the first time.

You see, for The Man the whole thing only works if Wes, WFLGHolt and super Chrissy Martin are all on the pitch at the same time. Take one away and the balance goes.

Cody Mac and Oli Johnson have done sterling jobs in making up for the Horse's discreet two-footed crippler, but both looked out of it and Millwall were decent - certainly more than enough on Saturday - to make us look a little ordinary without Holty.

So The Man cannot wait to see the big fella back in a yellow shirt at what can only be described as the perfect venue for a sports day - the Withdean.

It's a shocking place to play football - even the Millwall fans would struggle to make an atmosphere out of the place.

And a win will push us that little bit closer to making sure we don't go back next season.

t Lambo has brought a lot of things to the club - but one seems to know no bounds.

It's not the desire to win anything and everything, whether a piece of toast at a Colney breakfast or the half-time warm-up. It's not the sight of City being more tactically astute than Roedent was tactless.

No, this one lends more to Worthy's sit-yoo-aye-shuns.

It's all over the place - no one at the club can talk without ending with a strong affirmation that they mean what they say.

The AGM saw McGnarly become the latest culprit: “We won't be pushovers, that's for sure.”

As long as you're all sure, then.

t The Man is bored of everyone going on about how intimidating Millwall was onSaturday.

Saying that is to miss the point. Being at The New Den was more a reminder of how things should be.

Quality banter, some very decent noise and a proper appreciation that you are on someone else's patch.

Even in an era of club badges becoming 'brands' it's good to see Millwall's Lion outdo Chelsea.

Give me their claws-out-teeth-ready-to-maul number over Knightsbridge's namby pamby pussy cat any day.
