Philippe Clement previewed Norwich City’s Championship trip to Sheffield United this lunchtime – and we brought you all the key lines from his press conference.
The Canaries are still searching for their first league victory on the road this season, having suffered defeats at Millwall and, most recently, Stoke. Clement will be hoping to put that record right when his side arrive at Bramall Lane this weekend.
Standing in their way are an unbeaten Sheffield United outfit who come into the contest on the back of a dramatic stoppage-time victory over Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday night. Chris Wilder’s men have yet to taste defeat in any competition this season.
With this fixture the first of five over the next fortnight before the international break, the City head coach has stressed in recent weeks that he will need to make full use of his squad.
One player who will provide a welcome boost is Paris Maghoma, who has missed the last four games with a calf problem. Clement confirmed the creative midfielder had returned to full team training and is back in contention for Saturday’s trip to the Steel City.
The trip to the Blades will come too soon for Jovon Makama, who is now back in team training after managing just 45 minutes of pre-season action either side of separate foot injuries, but he is expected to return in the weeks ahead.
Gabe Forsyth (knee) was involved with the Under-21s last week and is set to continue building his fitness with the development side. Mirko Topic (ACL) is a little further behind in his rehabilitation.
Lucien Mahovo (ankle) is out until late autumn, while team-mate Ali Ahmed (ACL) faces a prolonged spell on the sidelines. Elsewhere, Amankwah Forson, Jakov Medic and Liam Gibbs all left Carrow Road on deadline day in search of more regular first-team minutes.
For Sheffield United, the final few hours of the transfer window were disappointing, with key creator Callum O’Hare departing for Wrexham and only defender Liam Kitching arriving on loan from Coventry. It marked a miserable end to the summer for United fans, who had already seen star players Gus Hamer and Andre Brooks depart, with the latter joining the Canaries.
Wilder will be without three options for this weekend’s clash, with Tahith Chong, Ryan One and key full-back Femi Seriki all ruled out.
