Abu Kamara's sale was the right decision for Norwich City, even if it was a 'sad' ending to his time at Carrow Road.
That's Canaries head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup's verdict, after the 21-year-old completed a deadline day move to Hull for a fee that could rise to more than £5million.
Kamara had submitted a transfer request earlier in the summer despite being a part of City's long-term plan since midway through his loan at Portsmouth last term.
Thorup has no regrets over granting that wish, admitting that he'd have liked to work with the winger for longer but prioritising players with their hearts at the club.
"Of course, even though a player thinks that another club is better for him, then we still need a transfer deal that we can accept," he said. "We got the deal that we wanted here towards the end.
"I'm still sad that he left, because I think he has potential to become a good player, and I think he would have been close and maybe also around the squad and the games that we played so far.
"But that's how it is. Not every strategy and every club is for everyone. It’s better suited that we have players who can find their happiness somewhere else."
