Ken Aboh isn't a 'typical under-21s' player, with Stevenage boss Alex Revell delighted to land the Norwich City youngster on loan for the season. 

Highly-rated Aboh secured a move to the League One side on deadline day amid strong interest from throughout the EFL, but City handpicked the Lamex Stadium as the best destination for his development. 

Aboh made his debut for Stevenage in their 1-0 defeat to Lincoln City on Saturday, and Revell expressed his delight at winning the race for the teenager ahead of MK Dons, Notts County, Port Vale and others. 

"We're really pleased with him. We've watched him for a long time," Boro boss Revell told the Comet. 

"I wouldn't say he's a typical U21 player. He's got a lot of strength, he's powerful, and he can match up really well against men. He's got something that every defender fears - pace. 

"We felt that we needed to get someone with pace who can really trouble defenders.

"In Ken we've got someone that fits the profile of what we wanted to add. It's really important for us and the way we play. 

"We’re fit, we're athletic and I felt we just needed that. Listy we know is quick but Ken is a different type of player to Elliott. 

"He just brings something else to an already powerful and athletic group." 

Aboh penned a new three-year deal at Carrow Road earlier in the summer, and a loan was sanctioned with Josh Sargent, Ante Crnac and Ashley Barnes ahead of him in Johannes Hoff Thorup's striking stable. 

Revell is confident that Stevenage can offer Aboh a platform to perform consistently as well as providing real competition in forward areas. 

"There are plenty of strikers to choose from at Norwich, and so for Ken, maybe game time might have been a problem," Revell said.

"This is an opportunity to showcase his talents, and we want to give him the platform. 

"Obviously we've got players that are also going to challenge him but he brings competition and we've said all along that we need competition in those areas.  

"I think once you're a goal scorer at any level, it doesn't matter what your age is. You know where the goal is, that doesn't change and the goal never moves. 

"He can score goals [for Stevenage] for sure. We just have to give him the opportunity."
