Norwich City’s visit gives Swansea the opportunity to right the wrongs of their season so far, after a mixed start to the campaign.
That’s the verdict from Swans midfielder Ollie Cooper, who’s become a key player again under Luke Williams after struggles following ex-Canary Russell Martin’s departure.
He hopes the Welsh side can get back on track after a 1-0 loss to West Brom prior to the international break, but knows Norwich won’t make it easy.
“They’ve got lots of quality players in their squad,” he said. “We know what they’re good at, so it’s about us trying to put our stamp on the game, trying to control it and do what we’re good at. We’ll go from there.
“There have been a lot of positives, but then there have been bits that we still need to work on. We’ve got a lot of new faces in, a lot of new people who are playing in the Championship for the first time. So I think it’s just trying to get everyone gelling together.
“There’s been stuff that we can look at and say we’ve done well, but there’s still a lot to improve on. We just need to keep improving on that, and start [this weekend].
“Like anything, it takes time. How long, you never know. All we can do is look at the game tomorrow, focus on that and try to get the best out of [the game].”
Cooper has gone from working under one former Norwich player to another, having made his first Wales start under new boss and Carrow Road academy graduate Craig Bellamy.
The 45-year-old wants Cooper to reignite his good form for the Dragons, having kept a close eye even prior to his appointment.
“He just wants me to try and find the confidence and the belief I had when I was playing under Russell Martin,” the midfielder continued, asked about Bellamy.
“He said he remembered watching me in those games and always kept an eye on some of the Welsh players.
“He mentioned that I struggled a bit last season, so he just wants to try and help me build up the confidence and get back to where I was really.”
