Amankwah Forson is still adapting to the relentless competition of the Championship after signing for Norwich City this summer.

The 21-year-old joined the Canaries from Red Bull Salzburg in a deal worth around £4million, penning a four-year deal with a club option of a further 12 months.

He hit the ground running in England, impressing as a substitute in an opening day loss to Oxford and claiming assists in two of his next three games.

Forson has lost form since then, however, being replaced at half time at Coventry, scoring a decisive own goal at Swansea and eventually losing his place in the starting line-up as City beat Watford 4-1 on Saturday.

He puts that down to the pains of adaptation, having swapped Austrian dominance with Salzburg for fast-paced English football.

"It's quite a big step for me," he said. "It's the football country that every player wants to get into and play.

"My academy (at first professional club WAFA) showed us the Red Bull style of play, so it wasn't that different going from there to Austria. But here the league is different.

"I was in the top club that is always first in the league. Here in England it's not like that, everybody can win once they get a chance. It's such a strong league. It's quite fast also.

"Whatever you do, any mistake, the other team will score. That's the big thing I have learned here."

While the Ghanaian midfielder wrestles with his own personal development, he feels the team is going in the right direction under Johannes Hoff Thorup's leadership.

"I think our team will be stronger," he continued, speaking to official club channels. "I came in and we lost against Oxford, but we came back and played the games at home. There was so much difference in the team.

"I think every player in the squad has a strong feeling about where we are going. We know every game is different, but we have the feeling we can win. I know that's the same for every one of my team-mates."
