Norwich City forward Abu Kamara scored a fine goal for loan club Portsmouth as they romped to a 5-1 win over Gillingham.

Kamara curled a left-footed effort beyond Gills goalkeeper Glenn Morris to help Pompey gain three points in the EFL Trophy group stage, his strike the pick of the bunch from five different goalscorers.

The 20-year-old has enjoyed a positive start to life at Fratton Park, playing 14 times with John Mousinho's side top of League One.

He's largely played from the left and right wings despite a career as a striker thus far, but has impressed his manager and new fans early on.

"We would love to sign Abu next summer but my suspicion is that, if he progresses the way he should progress, Norwich will be after him next season and he’ll be in their first-team,” Mousinho said last month.

"From how much we speak to Norwich, we certainly know they were really keen on him getting this loan, learning a lot and then affecting their first-team. Abu’s goal next season should be playing in the Championship."

It was also a winning evening for City's stable at Accrington Stanley, with two young Canaries starting as they beat Harrogate Town 5-3.

Brad Hills has become a regular starter under John Coleman and played at centre-back for the full 90 minutes, while Norwich under-21 team-mate Lewis Shipley featured at left-back.

Shipley has struggled for game time since moving to the north west, having sustained an injury after just one game for Stanley. This was his fourth appearance since returning, however, as the 19-year-old looks to establish his place in the side.

Goalkeeper Jon McCracken saw his emergency loan at the Wham Stadium extended last week, and was on the bench for the win. He's started all three of Accrington's league games since signing in September, but was replaced by Jack McIntyre as they went top of their group.
