Norwich City academy goalkeeper Caleb Ansen has signed a new long-term contract at Carrow Road.

The 18-year-old has extended his current deal until 2026, with a club option to take that a further 12 months.

Ansen featured in the club’s under-21 win over Charlton Athletic last week, keeping a clean sheet as they strolled to a 5-0 victory at Princes Park.

He has primarily played for the Canaries’ struggling under-18s, however, making six league appearances this season and 14 in the 2022-23 campaign.

Discussing the new contract, Ansen said: "It's a very proud moment for me. I'd like to thank the club and the coaches for putting the trust in me, and the commitment they've put to me to get to this point.

"I hope it's the second of many as I continue to move forward.

"I feel like I'm developing game-by-game and learning more and more. With the help of the coaches, I feel like I'm getting better with my development.

"I'm a very commanding goalkeeper, I have a big presence. I like to make penalty saves, it's a big moment and I like big moments. I'm good with the ball at my feet, and my main attribute is shot stopping.

"Hopefully I can make more appearances for the Under-21s and become a regular starter there."

Ansen is highly rated behind the scenes and has already learnt from those in the first-team setup at City’s Colney training base, as well as academy goalkeeping coach and former first-team player Declan Rudd.

"I've been exposed to the likes of George Long and Angus Gunn, and I learn a lot day-by-day. Paul Clements, the goalkeeping coach, is teaching me a lot too.

"The relationship with Clem is very good. He's stern on me, but that's good for me and my development. It's a good relationship, and I want to build and move forward."
